Project Status Updates
Project Status Updates – September 2022
The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) has been progressing background and technical studies for Melton East and has been working closely with key stakeholders such as Melton Council, Wurundjeri (Traditional Owners), Department of Transport (DoT), Department of Education (DET), and Melbourne Water (MW).
Since our last update in July, we have:
- Finalised our Melton East Vision and Purpose Summary – August 2022 (PDF).
- Finalised our Economic and Retail Assessment (Urbis) August 2022 (PDF) and Post Contact Heritage Assessment (EHP) September 2022 (PDF).
- Met with key stakeholders including Melton Council, DET, emergency service providers, Homes Victoria and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) to progress our Community Infrastructure Assessment.
- Commenced Phase 2 Technical studies including the Sodic Soils Assessment and the Social and Affordable Housing Strategy.
- Worked with MW to progress their Development Services Scheme (DSS).
- Worked with DoT to progress planning for the arterial road network.
In the coming months we will be focused on completing Phase 1 technical studies:
- Community Infrastructure Assessment
- Utilities Assessment
- Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
- Climate Resilience Assessment
- Aboriginal and Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment
- Cultural Values Assessment
We are also preparing for a co-design workshop to be held in November. Further details on this workshop will be sent out in the coming weeks.
