Project Status Updates – November 2022
The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) has been progressing the planning for Melton East by hosting a co-design workshop and progressing technical and background studies to inform our plans.
On 16 November we facilitated the Melton East Co-design Workshop at the Timbertop Children’s and Community Centre in Aintree. The workshop involved 97 participants responding to a draft plan through a series of theme-based activities. This was a key milestone for the Melton East PSP and involved a co-ordinated effort across all attendees.
We have also progressed technical studies for Melton East and have continued to work closely with key Melton Council, Department of Transport (DoT), Department of Education (DET), Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), Wurundjeri (Traditional Owners), and Melbourne Water (MW).
Since our last update in October 2022, we have:
- Completed our Co-Design Workshop
- Conducted one-on-one workshops with those who were unavailable for the co-design workshop (as requested)
- Finalised our:
- Climate Resilience Assessment – Melton East PSP – Climate Resilience Assessment (HIP V. HYPE) November 2022 (PDF)
- Utilities Servicing Assessment – Melton East PSP – Utilities Servicing Assessment (Aurecon) September 2022 (PDF)
- Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment – Melton East PSP – Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (Urbis) October 2022 (PDF)
- Published a Draft Community Infrastructure Assessment – Melton East PSP – Community Infrastructure Assessment (ASR Research) October 2022 – Draft Final (PDF)
- Received a draft Development Service Scheme (DSS) from Melbourne Water
- Worked with DET to understand the number of government schools required for the precinct.
In the coming months we will focus on:
- Finalising our Co-design Workshop summary document
- Completing Phase 1 and 2 technical studies, including:
- Community Infrastructure Assessment
- Aboriginal and Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment
- Cultural Values Assessment
- Integrated Water Management (IWM) Assessment
- Sodic Soils Assessment
- Social and Affordable Housing Strategy
- Commencing Transport Assessment and modelling
- Refining our Draft Place-based Plan based on input from our partners.
