The Victorian Planning Authority proudly acknowledges Victoria’s Aboriginal community and their rich culture and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people and communities to Victorian life and how this enriches us.

We embrace the spirit of reconciliation, working towards the equality of outcomes and ensuring an equal voice.

Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – March 2023

Since our last update in December 2022, the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) has been working to finalise third party funding agreements for Ballarat North to secure funds for our strategic planning work.

Preparing technical reports

We are now also procuring the first phase of technical assessments, which include:

  • Biodiversity
  • Cultural heritage
  • Flooding and drainage
  • Bushfire risk assessments
  • Land capability
  • Servicing and utility assessments.

These technical reports will provide a picture of the site constraints posed by the natural environment and existing conditions. They will also help the VPA define the boundary of the northern expanded area.

Pitching sessions

The VPA will be conducting pitching sessions in April. Pitching sessions are an opportunity for landowners and agencies to ‘pitch’ their vision and ideas for their site and the precinct as a whole.

If you are a landowner and have registered your interest in pitching, you will have received a letter from us. If you have not heard from us and would like to meet with the VPA to attend a pitching session, please contact the project team.
