Project Status Updates – May 2024

Since our last update in March 2024, we have continued to progress the planning for the Ballarat North Precinct Structure Plan (PSP), in collaboration with the City of Ballarat.

We are continuing to progress with the preparation of technical assessments:

  • Bushfire assessment
  • Utility and servicing assessment
  • Biodiversity and native vegetation assessment
  • Landscape and visual assessment
  • Post-contact heritage assessment
  • Land capability assessment
  • Adverse amenity impact assessment
  • Drainage and flooding assessment
  • Integrated water management
  • Community infrastructure assessment
  • Affordable housing needs assessment
  • Economic and retail assessment
  • Arboricultural assessment

These reports will be uploaded to the website when they are finalised.

This technical information will form the basis for the structure plan, which we will then take to a co-design workshop. At this workshop, precinct landowners and agency stakeholders will be invited to consider a draft structure plan against the preliminary technical findings and aspirations from the vision and purpose survey.

The aim of the workshop is to collaboratively work towards planning solutions, recognising the range of stakeholder objectives, constraints, and opportunities for the precinct.

We are still determining whether all or part of the ‘expanded area’ for Ballarat North will be included in the PSP. The co-design workshop will therefore only focus on the core area. We will provide future opportunities for landowners of the expanded area to attend a separate workshop if a formal decision is made to include the expanded area in the structure plan.

Over the next few months we will be finalising our technical reports and preparing for the co-design workshop. We will send information to invited participants closer to the dates.
