Project Status Updates

Project Status Update – February 2026

Since our last update in November 2025, we have: 

  • Received the project Standing Advisory Committee (SAC) Report in December 2025. 
  • Engaged with stakeholders and agencies to progress recommendations relating to drainage and transport. 
  • Instructed consultants to update and finalise technical work. 
  • Commenced updating of the project’s documents to capture recommended changes.

Transport Strategy

Over the next couple of months, we will focus on resolving transport matters to address SAC recommendations.   

Between 5 May 2025 to 15 June 2025, we consulted the public on the draft amendment, which included a transport strategy for the PSP that funded part of a future east-west link road, including a bridge across Bruce Creek. However, we received submissions from Golden Plains Shire Council, landowners and the local community that indicated a preference for the PSP to fund upgrades to existing roads within Bannockburn, to ensure a safe road network as the precinct develops. 

In response to your feedback, an alternative transport strategy has been prepared that will divert funding from the future east-west link road to upgrading the existing road network. The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) will work with Council to confirm which existing roads and/or intersections that will be upgraded to accommodate the expected growth from the Precinct. We will update you as the work progresses. 

The Bannockburn South East PSP will continue to fund an upgrade to the intersection of Burnside Road and the Hamilton Highway to ensure its ongoing safety and function for existing and future residents.  

Next Steps

In the coming months, we will be focused on finalising technical work, particularly on transport matters and completing updates to the documentation in preparation for submitting the Precinct Structure Plan and Planning Scheme Amendment to the Minister for consideration for gazettal into the planning scheme.
