The Victorian Planning Authority proudly acknowledges Victoria’s Aboriginal community and their rich culture and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people and communities to Victorian life and how this enriches us.

We embrace the spirit of reconciliation, working towards the equality of outcomes and ensuring an equal voice.

Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – July 2024

Since our last update in April, we have continued to review and where possible resolve submissions made during public consultation on the draft amendment package.

This has involved:

  • Considering submissions with council, Department of Transport and Planning, technical experts and other relevant government agencies.
  • Meeting with submitters and landowners to discuss their site-specific concerns and resolve matters where possible.
  • Updating draft planning scheme ordinances, planning scheme maps, and the Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) and Development Contributions Plan (DCP) documents with changes arising from this process.

All submissions that remain unresolved have been referred to the Victorian Planning Authority Projects Standing Advisory Committee (SAC).

The Directions Hearing will be held on Friday 12 July 2024, and the SAC Hearing will commence during the week of Monday 19 August 2024. For more information on the Directions Hearing and Standing Advisory Committee please contact Planning Panels Victoria on (03) 8572 7999.

What is a Directions Hearing and a Standing Advisory Committee?

Directions Hearing

The Directions Hearing is a procedural hearing, at which the scheduling and timetable is organised for the upcoming Standing Advisory Committee. We recommend for submitters to attend to be informed about the Standing Advisory Committee process.

Standing Advisory Committee

The Standing Advisory Committee is an independent committee appointed by the Minister for Planning to advise the Minister and the VPA on referred matters, including unresolved submissions made during public consultation.

SAC hearings are an opportunity for submitters to be heard, and may also be attended by expert witnesses (technical advisors), legal representatives, members of government departments, and any interested members of the community.
