Project Status Update – March 2025

The VPA has been collaborating with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) to provide planning services and guidance for the future development of the NFP and its surrounding areas, supporting the delivery of the Beveridge Interstate Freight Terminal (BIFT). 

We have progressed planning for the precinct by conducting initial background studies and technical assessments, including drainage, economic and cultural heritage studies, in preparation for a high-level precinct plan and infrastructure delivery plan for the NFP. These background studies and assessments will help identify opportunities and constraints within the precinct.  

In the coming months, we will continue to work with DTP, Melbourne Water, City of Whittlesea, Mitchell Shire and other state government agencies to identify key strategic planning issues for the precinct.  

In addition, we will progress further technical studies and commence preparation of a vision for the Northern Freight Precinct’s development in preparation for agency validation and stakeholder consultation.
