Project Status Updates – July 2023
The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) continues to work through a range of challenges for the precinct.
Following publishing the co-design workshop summary report in April 2023, we have been working to progress the technical studies.
We are continuing to work closely with Melton City Council, the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung (Traditional Owners), Melbourne Water (MW) and other stakeholders to resolve key issues.
Since our last update in April, we have:
- Finalised and published the sodic soils assessment, social and affordable housing report and integrated water management reports.
- Undertaken an arboricultural assessment of the Kororoit Creek corridor.
- Appointed consultants to commence the Kororoit Creek bridge feasibility analysis, transport modelling, integrated transport assessment and bushfire assessment.
- Progressed planning for the regional open space and the post contact heritage statement of significance for the Nissen Hut.
In the coming months we will focus on:
- Completing technical studies, including:

- Climate resilience assessment implementation plan
- Community infrastructure assessment
- Aboriginal and cultural heritage impact assessment
- Cultural values assessment
- Bridge crossing analysis
- Integrated transport assessment
- Transport modelling
- Refining our draft place-based plan with input from government stakeholders (on-going).
- Progressing the planning for the regional active open space area.
- Finalising the Nissen Hut statement of significance.
