Project Status Updates – November 2023
We have been working with the City of Casey to progress the planning for Casey Fields South and Devon Meadows by engaging with our partners across government and working through their feedback on the draft precinct structure plan (PSP).
Since our last update in July, we have:
- Met with our agency partners to discuss and identify outstanding matters for resolution.
- Continued working with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) to plan the future transport network for the precincts.
- Progressed technical work to identify issues and opportunities for the future transport network, including strategic modelling.
- Continued working with Melbourne Water on the requirements for the Drainage Services Scheme (DSS), and the implications for the precincts.
- Continued working with our agency partners to confirm the community infrastructure required to support future residents.
- Finalised the technical assessment for biodiversity.
- Progressed work to assess Aboriginal cultural values and bushfire risk.
On 20 September, the Victorian Government released Victoria’s Housing Statement: The decade ahead 2024-2034, in which it announced the Victorian Planning Authority will continue preparing PSPs for new housing and jobs in Melbourne and regional Victoria. We will conduct further work across 21 projects to deliver more than 60,000 homes and 60,000 jobs. These projects will deliver a sustainable supply of greenfield land, and more jobs close to home.
Casey Fields South and Devon Meadows are two of the 21 projects named in the Housing Statement.
In the coming months, we will be focused on reviewing the draft precinct structure plan with the City of Casey and our agency partners. As we work through their feedback, we will be refining the draft precinct structure plan in preparation for public consultation in early 2024.
We are now in the process of updating our work program and confirming new timings for this project. We will provide another update with more details on our next steps once our work program is confirmed.
