The VPA is assisting Greater Bendigo City Council to undertake a new industrial land strategy.
Greater Bendigo is the major employment and industrial hub for the broader Loddon Campaspe region. As the region’s population grows over coming years, attracting business, industry and employment will be essential.
With careful planning, the City of Greater Bendigo will seek to zone additional land for industrial purposes, attracting new industries, helping existing businesses grow and supporting more than 3,300 new jobs by 2036.
Council’s previous Industrial Land Strategy was adopted in 2002. Over the past 17 years there have been significant changes in technology, skills, training and occupations, energy, waste management and the Greater Bendigo economy.
A new Greater Bendigo Industrial Land Development Strategy (GBILDS) presents an opportunity for a contemporary review of industry needs within Greater Bendigo and the wider region. By understanding existing industry and planning for future business needs it will help support and drive economic growth.
A draft Greater Bendigo Industrial Land Development Strategy has been developed and considers the supply and demand for industrial land, and the changing or future needs of industry business over the next 30 years. The draft is now open for community consultation and council is also running a separate expressions of interest process for landowners.
