Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – March 2024

We have completed the second stakeholder engagement phase with precinct landowners and agencies and are continuing to progress the planning for the Ballarat North Precinct Structure Plan (PSP).

A summary document has been published from the September stakeholder survey which provides an overview of the participants key aspirations for the project. It can be found in the supporting documentation tab below. We will continue to refine the vision throughout the PSP process.

Since our last update in November 2023, we have continued the preparation of technical reports. The following assessments are underway:

  • Utility servicing
  • Biodiversity and native vegetation
  • Landscape and visual
  • Post-contact heritage
  • Geoscience analysis
  • Land capability
  • Adverse amenity impact
  • Drainage and flooding
  • Integrated water management
  • Community infrastructure
  • Housing demand; and
  • Economic and retail

We are also preparing to engage technical experts to undertake the following assessments:

  • Arboriculture
  • Traffic and Transport
  • Sodic Soils.

Once studies are completed and reviewed by relevant government agencies they will be made available on the project webpage for stakeholders to view.

We are continuing to engage with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) to undertake a cultural values assessment. This is to ensure that Aboriginal cultural heritage values are appropriately responded to within the PSP.

In the coming months we will focus on finalising technical studies with findings to shape our initial plans for the precinct. These plans will form the basis for the next engagement milestone which is a Co-design workshop that is scheduled for mid-2024.
