The Victorian Planning Authority proudly acknowledges Victoria’s Aboriginal community and their rich culture and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people and communities to Victorian life and how this enriches us.

We embrace the spirit of reconciliation, working towards the equality of outcomes and ensuring an equal voice.

Project Status Update – March 2024

We have been working with the City of Greater Geelong to progress planning for the Greater Avalon Employment Precinct. This involves completing the co-design workshop summary report and draft place-based plan for stakeholder review. Concurrently, we are finalising technical reports to inform the plan.

Since our last update in November 2023, we have:

  • Published the Greater Avalon Employment Precinct co-design report and draft place-based plan in December 2023 which is available under the supporting documentation tab below.
  • Appointed consultants to undertake a sodic soils assessment and a drainage and flooding strategy.
  • Progressed the cultural heritage impact, biodiversity and landscape and visual impact assessments.

In the coming months we will be focusing on reviewing comments from stakeholders who have provided feedback on the draft placed based plan. We will also progress further technical work in preparation for council and state agency consultation in the third quarter of this year.
