The Victorian Planning Authority proudly acknowledges Victoria’s Aboriginal community and their rich culture and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people and communities to Victorian life and how this enriches us.

We embrace the spirit of reconciliation, working towards the equality of outcomes and ensuring an equal voice.

Project Status Update – July 2024

We have been working with the City of Greater Geelong to progress planning for the precinct.

Since our last update in May 2024, we have:

  • Begun drafting a Precinct Structure Plan for council and state agency consultation.
  • Progressed the drainage and flooding, sodic soils, post-contact heritage, aboriginal cultural values, biodiversity, landscape and visual impact and high level servicing assessments.
  • Sought feedback from council and the Department of Transport and Planning on the scope for an integrated transport modelling assessment.

In the coming months, we will be focused on progressing technical work and preparing a draft amendment package in preparation for council and state agency consultation in the third quarter of 2024.
