Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – September 2024

Since our last update in July 2024, we have continued to progress planning for the Ballarat North Precinct Structure Plan (PSP).

Several technical background documents have been updated and are now available under the Supporting Documentation tab on our website, including:

  • Final Adverse Amenity Impact Assessment (Jacobs) May 2024
  • Final Biodiversity Assessment (WSP) July 2024
  • Final Bushfire Development Report (EHP) July 2024
  • Final Post-Contact Heritage Report (RBA) July 2024

Over the next few months, we will be continuing to finalise outstanding technical reports and commence the next phase of background technical work, including transport modelling and stormwater management.

We also successfully completed the co-design workshop for the core area on the 17th of July at The Good Shed in Ballarat.

At the workshop, landowners within the core area and agency stakeholders collaboratively worked towards planning solutions while considering the technical findings and range of objectives for the PSP. We are now preparing a summary document of the co-design workshop which will be released shortly.

We will consider the outputs from the workshop and develop a draft place-based plan for the core area.

In the coming months we will be focused on preparing:

  • The draft place-based plan for the core area.
  • Transport modelling and stormwater management technical reports.
  • The draft precinct structure plan and associated planning scheme amendment documentation.

These documents are essential for proceeding to the agency validation stage later this year, where government stakeholders will be invited to review the draft amendment documents ahead of public consultation in 2025.
