Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – April 2023

The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) is progressing the planning for the Melton East PSP by continuing to work through a range of challenges for the precinct.

Following the co-design workshop in November 2022, we have been working to complete and publish the co-design workshop summary report. This report was published in early April and is available to download at the bottom of this webpage.

We are continuing to work closely with Melton City Council, the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung (Traditional Owners), and Melbourne Water (MW) to resolve key issues.

Since our last update in February, we have been:

  • Finalising the co-design summary report
  • Procuring technical experts for the Kororoit Creek bridge crossing analysis, integrated transport assessment and transport modelling
  • Progressing planning for the regional open space
  • Progressing the social and affordable housing strategy

In the coming months we will focus on:

  • Completing phase 1 and 2 technical studies, including:
    • Community Infrastructure Assessment
    • Aboriginal and Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment
    • Cultural Values Assessment
    • Integrated Water Management Assessment
    • Sodic Soils Assessment
    • Social and Affordable Housing Strategy
    • Bridge crossing analysis
    • Integrated Transport Assessment
    • Transport modelling
  • Refining our draft place-based plan based on input from government stakeholders.
