Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – July 2023

The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) is continuing to progress the planning for the Ballarat North Precinct Structure Plan (PSP). We have now completed the pitching sessions – the first stage of engagement with precinct landowners and key agencies. A summary document of what we have heard during those sessions is available in the Supporting Documentation tab.

We are also developing a survey aimed at validating the essential priorities, visions, and objectives that were expressed during the pitching sessions. This survey will serve as our secondary means of engagement with precinct landowners and agencies, referred to as the Vision and Purpose stage.

Since our last update in May 2023, we have started preparing the following reports:

  • Drainage and Flooding;
  • Utility Servicing;
  • Biodiversity and Native Vegetation Assessments;
  • Landscape and Visual Assessment;
  • Post Contact Heritage; and
  • Geoscience Analysis.

We have also met with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) to discuss ongoing engagement processes to ensure aboriginal cultural heritage values are known and appropriately responded to within the PSP.

In the coming months, the project team aims to complete some of our Phase 1 technical studies. These will be available via the project webpage as they are completed. We will also be reviewing feedback from our Vision and Purpose survey and provide an outline of this to stakeholders
