Project Status Updates
Project Status Updates – November 2023
We have been working with the City of Ballarat to progress planning for the Ballarat North Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) by undertaking the ‘Vision and Purpose’ phase for the precinct and progressing technical inputs.
Since our last update in July 2023 we have:
- Conducted a Vision and Purpose Survey with precinct landowners and relevant government agencies to validate the key objectives we heard in pitching sessions and collect further insights.
- Continued preparing technical work on:
- Drainage and flooding
- Utility servicing
- Biodiversity and native vegetation
- Landscape and visual assessment
- Post contact heritage
- Geoscience analysis
- Begun work with technical experts on:
- Bushfire risk
- Land capability
- Adverse amenity impact
On 20 September 2023, the Victorian Government released Victoria’s Housing Statement: The decade ahead 2024-2034, in which it announced the Victorian Planning Authority will continue preparing Precinct Structure Plans (PSPs) for new housing and jobs in Melbourne and regional Victoria. We will conduct further work across 21 projects to deliver more than 60,000 homes and 60,000 jobs. These projects will deliver a sustainable supply of greenfield land, and more jobs close to home.
The Ballarat North PSP is one of the 21 projects named in the Housing Statement.
In the coming months we will be focused on collating the findings from our Vision and Purpose engagement, which we will publish in a Vision and Purpose Summary Document. Completing all technical studies will also be a key priority for us, as the findings will begin to shape our plans for the precinct and will form the basis for a co-design workshop in 2024.
