The Victorian Planning Authority proudly acknowledges Victoria’s Aboriginal community and their rich culture and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people and communities to Victorian life and how this enriches us.

We embrace the spirit of reconciliation, working towards the equality of outcomes and ensuring an equal voice.

Project Status Updates

Project Status Updates – March 2024

We have been holding regular workshops and meetings with Melton City Council and other key partners to progress planning for Melton East PSP.

Since our last update in November, we have:

  • Finalised and published the;
  • Progressed the Kororoit Creek Bridge feasibility analysis, transport modelling, and integrated transport assessment.
  • Progressed the cultural values assessment and Aboriginal cultural heritage impact assessment process with the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Heritage Corporation.
  • Progressed the planning for the regional active open space, biodiversity conservation area, and town centres.
  • Developed our draft place-based plan and draft precinct structure planning (PSP) document with input from government stakeholders.

In the coming months, we will focus on refining the place-based plan and draft PSP through the agency validation process. This milestone provides government stakeholders a formal opportunity to submit feedback to the VPA on their key priorities to be incorporated in the PSP.

We are also finalising and publishing the following technical studies:

  • Kororoit Creek Bridge Feasibility Analysis
  • Transport modelling and Integrated Transport Assessment.
  • Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment
  • Cultural Values Assessment.

Following agency validation, we will prepare the infrastructure contribution plan design and costings and the planning scheme amendment for public consultation in late 2024.
