Project Status Updates – March 2024

We have been working with Warrnambool City Council to progress the planning for the East of Aberline precinct structure plan (PSP) by publishing the vision and purpose for the precinct and undertaking technical assessments.

Vision and Purpose Summary

In July 2023, we commenced work on the vision and purpose for the precinct by issuing an online survey to landowners and other government agency partners. This survey aimed to establish an overarching vision for the precinct, building upon key themes developed through previous pitching sessions.

The key findings have now been published in the Vision and Purpose Survey Summary Report (PDF). This document provides an overview of the key aspirations to guide the future of the precinct.

Technical Assessments

We have been preparing to engage technical experts to undertake the following assessments:

  • Land capability
  • Adverse amenity impact
  • Community infrastructure
  • Economic and retail
  • Arboriculture
  • Traffic and transport

We have also begun the process to update the following assessments:

  • Drainage and integrated water management (IWM)
  • Utility servicing
  • Bushfire
  • Biodiversity and native vegetation precinct plan (NVPP)
  • Landscape and visual impact
  • Cultural and post contact heritage

Next Steps

In the coming months, we will continue to prepare technical assessments and work with council to progress the project.

The findings of these assessments will form the basis of the draft place-based plan for the precinct. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to help shape and refine this plan as part of the next engagement milestone, the co-design workshop, which is scheduled for mid-2024.
