The Victorian Planning Authority proudly acknowledges Victoria’s Aboriginal community and their rich culture and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people as Australia’s first peoples and as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We recognise and value the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal people and communities to Victorian life and how this enriches us.

We embrace the spirit of reconciliation, working towards the equality of outcomes and ensuring an equal voice.

What about the work my local council has done?

We will consult with the Cities of Kingston, Bayside and Glen Eira to see how the new planning controls can build on the work they’ve already done for the area.  This will include looking at the below strategies, as well as recent work in Glen Eira:

  • Hampton East (Moorabbin) Structure Plan
  • Bayside Housing Strategy
  • Bayside Affordable Housing Strategy
  • Moorabbin Activity Centre Structure Plan
  • Kingston Housing and Neighbourhood Character Study
  • Kingston Social and Affordable Housing Strategy

We will look at what the councils learnt about Moorabbin and Hampton East from the community to guide our clear new rules.
