Project Status Updates
Project Status Updates – July 2023
In June the Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) undertook its quarterly review to manage program pressures, respond to technical issues and align with cross-government policies.
This quarter, we considered the VPA’s revised funding from 1 July, following the State Budget release on 23 May. The majority of our projects continue to make steady progress with minimal impact on timelines.
However, certain projects face technical issues that require external resolution, involve policy decisions for the government or require the VPA to reprioritise resources.
From July, we are pausing Wallan East due to technical issues outside of VPA remit and the need for alignment across government.
In the coming months, we will undertake work to address project specific and broader northern corridor matters including, freight rail transport, land allocation for transport infrastructure in the precinct, and determining the best land use for the precinct structure plan (PSP).
Our aim is to make significant progress as quickly as we can, but we must also be practical and allocate our limited and diminishing resources accordingly.
We recognise stakeholders’ concerns about the revised timeframes.
As is normal practice, we will continue to update you on the status of our work program in September or as directed by the Minister for Planning.
